The Lions Clubs of Ireland (District 105i) were fortunate in having for their District Governor in 2008/09 Wexford Lion David Dempsey.
Dave, a native of Wexford town, took over the District Governor’s chains in July 2008 and was ably served by fellow Wexford Lion Anita Ryan in the role of District Secretary during his year of office.
The District Governor’s role is to guide the Lions of Ireland in their service to both their local communities the worldwide community of Lions. A major part of the District Governor’s work during the year is to visit the clubs, offer encouragement and motivation and provide the vision for embracing change and dealing with the ever changing demands placed on the Lions.
Dave led the family of Irish Lions with great vigour and enthusiasm, bringing his business skills to bear in getting things done. Together with his wife, Bernie, he brought a new dynamism to bear on the role and he is fondly regarded by his fellow Lions both in Ireland and in the Multiple District 105 (Great Britain and Ireland) and indeed in the wider Lions family.
