A hair raising fundraiser on June 7th 2020
Sisters Cate & Rosemary Hartigan will, on Sunday 7th June, shave their lock-down locks, live via Facebook.
Both usually sport a short ‘do’ but the past 12 weeks has resulted in a mullet an 80’s rocker would be proud off, not to mention extra long fringes and neck tickling tresses.
In baring their pates on Sunday, the sisters hope to raise some money for a number of organisations in Wexford. Through their i-donate page, funds will be given to Wexford Lions Club, where Rosemary is the PRO. From there the Club has confirmed that they will distribute a share of the funds to the following organisations :
Wexford Lions Club has partnered with Wexford Arts Centre for over thirty years through the annual Lions Club Art Exhibition. Funds will be used to assist the Little Artists Club – classes for children aged 4-6.
Wexford Lions Club are delighted to support this fundraiser; at their meeting on June 3rd, it was agreed that the Club would assist Blood Bikes South East who are in the process of setting up their service in Wexford. This organisation assists public hospitals, nursing homes, families and other medical facilities by providing a free out of hours medical transport service.
In doing so, they relieve sickness, and protect health, by the transportation of medical requirements such as P.P.E equipment, human donor breast milk for premature and vulnerable babies as well as those newly born with mothers too ill to feed them. They will also transport blood products, samples, medical records, test results, urgent medicines and medical devices.
Loreto Wexford PPU Student Bursary
Recently formed Past People’s Union for graduates of Loreto Secondary School in Wexford will provide bursary’s for students at the school. Given the current and future state of the economy, the PPU is aware that numerous students will find the return to school in the Autumn quite a challenge. By providing support, they will ensure students are given every opportunity to achieve their full potential.
